C EO of The Big Issue Foundation, Stephen Robertson, joined us at Fratton Park for the November Network Pompey Business Club networking lunch!
The Big Issue is a financial inclusion project offering an alternative way of earning money for those facing extreme poverty, with the 1,500 traders selling on average 84,000 copies a week. For the sellers, it gives them the opportunity to do something for themselves – a legal way of legitimately making money after facing social and financial exclusion. In an attempt to eradicate the stigma, Stephen explained that sellers are first required to invest their own money in the magazines in order to trade. They need to develop the confidence to sell and resilience to deal with the unjustified perception from the general public.
New Network Pompey members were welcomed and introduced which included Nigel Francis Wealth Management.
