At Network My Club, the ethos we promote across all our business clubs is that to collaborate and build long-term relationships in a relaxed and informal environment. Our events are for networking, not hard selling!

Therefore, before attending an event or if you are considering attending, please familiarise yourself with our expectations from attendees, to ensure you are maximising your time and saving you and your business coming across poorly to new connections and potential new clients.

We’ve run hundreds of events and welcomed thousands of people, having learnt the do’s and don’ts when it comes to networking, so what we ask you to avoid doing can include, but are not limited to:

  • Being pushy and selling right away. Shoving your business card into someone’s hand at the beginning of the conversation is a big red flag. Think, how would you perceive someone doing this to you?
  • Not listening. Asking questions, listening attentively and having an open mind about the conversation will lead to more productive interaction. Think, how you can help that person, rather than what you can sell to or get from them.
  • Not maintaining eye contact. Don’t be that person in a conversation that is already looking for the next one, scanning the room for someone else to sell to in search of new prey!
  • Being in it for a quick win. If you are asking yourself before the event, ‘I wonder how many sales I can make from this event’, then we are probably not for you.

Our members have invested time and money in membership to meet other like-minded businesses, so do ask visitors attending to respect this. We will decline any businesses found not adhering to our event etiquette from attending future events and also joining.

If you don’t have any of the above traits when networking, we’d love to meet you!

You can find and join us at one of our upcoming networking events here.
